Create a Memorable Wedding Day at a Lower Cost
Wedding were once a more intimate affair where the guests were invited to the ceremony, then moved on to the wedding breakfast or reception and stayed on for the evening party.
This way everyone was involved in the celebration, moving from one part of the day to the next flowing without interruption. The newlyweds would depart towards the end of the day with guests giving them a send off to the location of their first night of marraige as husband and wife.
Though some still follow the traditional and often more expensive wedding day, more and more modern couples are looking to create a memorable day at a reduced cost and therefore changing the way they get hitched.
Modern weddings now follow a separated timeline of events such as an after ceremony dinner with close friends and immediate family and then an evening function, often in a larger location or marquee, and includes a wider variety of family and friends. This has advantages as there's a break in the day for people to relax and prepare for the evening event as well as reducing the cost of feeding all the guests twice in one day.
The evening function can be setup as a buffet meal which helps to reduce costs and also making it a more informal and relaxed. This also makes it more flexible for theming and entertainment.
Due to the split nature of the day it's important that someone takes responsibility for making the day flow and transition from the daytime in to the evening proceedings. This can be a wedding organiser, best man or family member who, on the day will check that everything is in place ready for the evening, including the arrival and setup of the entertaiment, caterers, etc. Another responsibility will include working closley with the DJ or Master of Ceremonies to ensure the first dance is well received.
